Edy's Chicken & Steak tends to have a unique flavor compared to so many similar restaurants in the area. Something about what they put in the chicken. I find that even if you remove the skin, the chicken still has flavor.
I usually get their 1/2 chicken white with yuca. Nothing like some fried yuca. Sometimes I want to be like, "can you make sure it's crispy." But I don't want to be annoying since technically they are not a full service restaurant.
I also enjoy their chicken & steak combo. It's tasty and I get it when I don't want yuca. -

I gotta say it's just "meh". I don't go too far out of my way for Edy's anymore. The chicken used to be much juicer and crispy on the outside. I'm not sure what happened but it's just not the same. There are too many pop up Peruvian style restaurants to go out of my way for this one.
As of lately the chicken can be dry and the skin a little burnt. The potato salad is always pretty good. The rice has no salt. Which can be good I guess depending on your pallet. Fries are dry. I think they use frozen fries. The yuca is a must and the potato salad is wonderful! I usually opt for chicken and salad and the salad is bland just a few lettuce leaves, nothing to write home about.
My one recommendation, if you have the opportunity eat there don't bring it home. Your chicken will be much crunchier and juicy than if you take it home. -

I cannot tell you how many times I have been here, so it's only right to make it official via a review. It's only right.... right?
Hands down one of my favorite Peruvian chicken spots without a question. It's a running standard that the line is always long. But it's a small price to pay for the juiciest, moistest, tenderest chicken that can be hound on a styrofoam plate. The skin is soooo crispy you will find yourself rationing it out as you eat the meat. Two or more people? You are better off buying a whole chicken, which they do chop for you and get whatever sides you want. It only makes sense, economically. You have to try the corn at lest once. It's a tasty one.
The place is always clean and is ran like a well oiled machine. It's always busy and loud, I am glad they call out the order number on the overhead speaker. There is also plenty of seating. They also have a tv in the main seating area. Drink selection is plentiful with your choice of soda and juices, no alcohol though but the chicken makes up for that. -

Yum!
If you have been following my reviews, you will notice I have been looking for good Peruvian style chicken joints in the Falls Church area. Today I was able to accomplish that - with positive results.
For a rather inexpensive $12, I got 1/2 chicken, rice and beans, and plantains. It comes with a side salad.
I will break the items down for easier reading.
CHICKEN
When this first came onto the plate I thought I was going to be disappointed. It looked a bit sad and dry, with little going for it. I could not have been more wrong. It had plenty of flavor, and the skin was perfectly seasoned. Not overblown, not totally bland. The skin was crunchy and provided great texture for the meat itself, and it just falls right off at the right time.
SALAD
Quite a letdown here. They give one squirt of dressing and then the rest is just iceberg lettuce. I guess since it is free there is not *too* much to complain about, but it bears noting it tastes like nothing.
RICE AND BEANS
These were about what I expected. Except I think the rice was slightly undercooked. The taste straddles between boring and somewhat interesting, and that is what makes this hard to judge on. They were not bad, but certainly not memorable. My conclusion? Get another side of you are undecided.
PLANTAINS
These get wrapped up tightly in hot aluminum foil. Do NOT throw out your plate! Dump them out onto your chicken plate. Eat them off there. They have excellent texture and a sweet yet fresh taste to them. No mush, no mess. They cut easily with a fork and a knife, and still provide an excellent eating experience.
AMBIANCE
Even though it was at the end of the lunch rush it was still real busy here! Throngs of people were coming in to order and it shows that they know how to move things along. It reminded me a lot of Guapo's in Manassas in that regard. The loud radio blaring Latino pop music added to the cute and casual experience.
I do feel the menu is all over the place. Like Pollo Rico, what does it want to be? Italian? Peruvian? Latin American? European? It tries to wear too many hats. Simplify the menu and go from there. Chicken and steak are their bread and butter. Stick with it and run, no need to get cute to try and get a broader customer base. It will not work.
CONCLUSION
The chicken and fun casual ambience were enough to get my approval. Parking is ample and the location is so easy you have to be unaware to not see where it is. It is literally off of Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, near the Olive Garden.
Would I go back? Yes.
Go there. Enjoy. Repeat. -

What caught my attention was the amount of people going in and out of the restaurant so I thought I'd try it out. I ordered the main popular dish that was being advertised chicken potato salad and french fries. Chicken and french fries were good chicken head tons of flavors specially on the skin. Green salsa was delicious and the yellow sauce tasted somewhat like Chick-fil-A sauce. I wasn't a fan of the potato salad. Decent food clean restaurant. Seems like an average chicken spot but consistent on quality.
